The Veolia Mardyke Trust is an independent registered charity, which receives the Landfill Tax Credits from Veolia ES (UK) Ltd.’s South Ockendon landfill site. The Trust are very grateful for the continued support of Veolia ES (UK) Ltd.. The money received from Veolia not only comprises payments through the Landfill Communities Fund (formerly the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme), but also includes substantial voluntary contributions made by Veolia itself. These contributions prevent most groups from having to secure third party payments, making it much easier for voluntary groups to access the Trust’s monies, and hence enabling them to undertake a wide range of improvements and concentrate their energies on the services they provide. This contrasts with the position for many other environmental trusts around the country, and we believe that the continued commitment of Veolia ES (UK) Ltd to this Trust and to the other Veolia Trusts in neighbouring boroughs is helping to make a substantial improvement in the physical and social environment in South Essex.
